FUN CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES TO DO: "Les petits biscuits de Noël" (The small Christmas biscuits) de Marie Fouine.

MARIE FOUINE is a wonderful baker who loves sharing her favourite recipes with people. MARIE is 70 years old, she owns the local grocery-shop at "Petit Quinquin" and works there with her husband JEAN. Besides baking cakes MARIE also likes gossiping and often acts like a detective...Funny old MARIE!!

Les recettes de Marie Fouine

(The small Christmas biscuits)

Préparation (preparation): 15 minutes
Cuisson (cooking time): 7 à 10 minutes
Ingrédients (ingredients):
250 g de farine (flour)
100 g de beurre ramolli (soft butter)
125 g de sucre (sugar)
50 g d'amandes en poudre (almond powder)
1 oeuf (egg)
1 cuillère à café de levure (a teaspoon of yeast)
Une pincée de canelle (a pinch of cinnamon)
1 zeste de citron (zest of 1 lemon)
1 jaune d'oeuf mélangé à un peu d'eau (egg yolk mixed with a bit of water)

Préparation:
Préchauffe le four à 200°C (Pre-heat the oven to 200°C).
Mélange dans un grand bol, la farine, la levure, le sucre et la poudre d'amandes
(In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and almond powder).
Ajoute le beurre et les oeufs puis mélange avec une fourchette
(Add the butter and eggs and mix them with a fork)
Pétris la pâte en forme de boule et ajoute la canelle et le zeste de citron
(Knead the dough to make a ball and add the cinnamon and lemon zest).
Étale la pâte et découpe des formes de Noël comme des étoiles.
(Flatten the dough and cut out Christmas shapes like stars).
Dispose-les sur un plat couvert de papier daluminium et étale un peu de jaune d'oeuf sur les biscuits (Place them onto a tray covered with foil and spread the egg yolk mixed onto the biscuits).
Enfourne 7 à 10 min (Put in the oven for 7 to 10 min)

1. Cut each “lampion” following the thick

dotted line and decorate the reverse.
2. Fold them each on the short dotted line
and cut out the long dotted line to the black
dot.
3. Unfold and make a tube. Glue it well along
the side.
3. Give a nice shape to each “lampion” by
folding well the paper on the middle line
(fold line).
4. Make a hole on each side and put a long
string through. You can make as many as you
wish with different colour paper.
5. Hang it on the Christmas tree.

Materials: scissors/ sparkle/
glue/ colouring pens/ colour paper
